WhatsApp message link with a phone number

Create a WhatsApp message link with https://wa.me/ and the full phone number in international format. Leave out the plus sign, spaces, dashes, and brackets, and drop a leading 0. Add ?text= and a URL-encoded message when the chat should open with that text ready to send. The Free WhatsApp Link Generator, built by P2P Labs, builds the link in the browser and draws a QR code for the same link. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Enter the mobile number with the country code.

  2. Enter a message the customer will send when they tap the link. Optional.

  3. Press Create WhatsApp Link, then copy the link or download the QR code.

How to format the link

Standard chat link

Use https://wa.me/ followed by the country code and phone number.

https://wa.me/6281234567890

Leave the plus sign, brackets, and dashes out. A link that keeps a plus, a leading 0, or dashes is the wrong shape.

Chat link with a preset message

Add ?text= and the message in URL-encoded form. A space becomes %20. A comma becomes %2C. The message appears in the chat field. The person still sends it.

https://wa.me/6281234567890?text=Hi%2C%20I%20would%20like%20to%20know%20more

Rules for the phone number

  • Include the country code. Indonesia is 62. The United States and Canada use 1. The United Kingdom uses 44.
  • Omit symbols and spaces. No plus sign, dashes, brackets, or spaces.
  • Remove leading zeros from the local number. In Indonesia, 081234567890 becomes 6281234567890.

The format is WhatsApp click to chat, from the WhatsApp Help Center. This page only builds the link. It does not open a chat until you use it.

Questions

Add ?text= and the URL-encoded message. Example: https://wa.me/6281234567890?text=Hi%2C%20I%20would%20like%20to%20know%20more. The message appears in the chat field. The person still sends it.

Do I include the plus sign or a leading zero?

No. Leave out the plus sign, spaces, dashes, and brackets. Drop a leading 0 and use the country code. In Indonesia, 081234567890 becomes 6281234567890.

Which country code do I use?

Use the country code of the WhatsApp account. Indonesia is 62. The United States and Canada use 1. The United Kingdom uses 44.

Where can I paste the link?

Paste it in a social bio, a website button, or a Google Business Profile website or chat link.

Does this page store the number?

No. The link is built in this browser. The number is not sent to P2P Labs and is not saved on this page.

Does this page make a QR code?

Yes. After the link is created, the QR code on this page encodes the same wa.me address. It is drawn in the browser. Download it as a PNG.

Spoken answer. A WhatsApp message link starts with wa.me, then the country code and number. Leave out the plus sign and any leading zero. The QR code beside the form encodes that same link.
